The Washington Planning Commission voted 4-to-0 Monday to accept the revised subdivision ordinance and send it to the Town Council with the recommendation that it be approved.
The msgor change between the proposed ordinance and the one now in use, is that the revised ordinance requires that all hew lots have on-site septic systems and drainfields and requires that two locations for drainfields be provided for each lot.
The 41-page ordinance details how land may be subdivided and developed. It specifies conditions for applying for a subdivision or to develop a pre-existing lot. It sets standards for streets, street-lighting, sewage disposal, and requirements for new lots.
Mayor Dean Morehouse attended the meeting and indicated that the council might change the ordinance to allow off-site drainfields.
At next month’s meeting the Planning Commission will begin to revise the town’s Comprehensive Plan. It was adopted in the fall of 1986 and must be updated every five years.
