The newly reconstituted Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross officially opened its doors July 8 at 53 South Third St., Warrenton, offering mandated services to persons in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties.

The chapter was closed in December by a vote of its board when it had a shortage of revenue and volunteers.

However, many Fauquier residents formed an interim board the beginning of the year to see if the chapter had the support to restart. After a meeting at Airlie in March showed community interest and encouragement, the core group forged ahead with steps to reopen.
