Ester Woodard
Ester Cathem Woodard, 77, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, July 9 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service was conducted Thursday, July 11 in the Washington Masonic Cemetery' by the Rev. John Burke.
Mrs. Woodard was bom Jan. 7, 1914 in Sperryville, the daughter of the late Ellis Herbert and Vinnie Ethel Atkins Jenkins. She was the wife of the late Clifford Charles Woodard.
Surviving are a son, Clifford Burrell Woodard of Flint Hill; five daughters, Margaret Catherine O’Connell of Leon, Anna Virginia Dodson of Flint Hill, Ethel Pearl Smoot of Chester Gap, Lillie Kate Fincham of Front Royal and Dorothy May Smoot of Winchester; two brothers, Jonas Robert Jenkins of Washington and Athey H. Jenkins of Augusta, Ga.; a sister, Sallie Frances Atkins of Washington; 23 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.
Olvine Small
Olvine Coughlin Small, 87, of Washington, D.C., died Tuesday, July 9 in the Culpeper Health Care Center.
The funeral wa& conducted Friday, July 12 at Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper by Dr. H.O. Browning. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Small was bom Oct. 27, 1903, in Rappahannock County, the daughter of the late James and Golda Deal Coughlin. She was retired from the Western Electric Telephone Co. after 26 years and was a member of the Pioneers of America. She was the wife of the late Russell “Barney” Small.
Surviving are a brother, Woodrow Coughlin of Castleton; and a sister, Mrs. Eckis Simms of Culpeper.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Delmore Coughlin. He died in June of 1929.
Pallbearers were Carrol Deal, Earl Peyton, Paul Karnes, Aylette Buckner, J.T. Wooodward and Tom Hardy.
