New time for RAAC benefit

The new time and date for the annual benefit Talent and Variety Show by the • Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 in The Theatre at Washington, Va.

In addition to a variety of musical numbers such as show tunes, gospel, bluegrass and dramatized folk songs, there will be special acting appearances by some of our favorite performers in contemporary ■. comedy and drama as well as in selected scenes from Shakespeare's comedy, “As . You Like It."

Disney movie shown Sunday

“Shipwrecked,” a Walt Disney movie about adventure on the high seas, will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21 in The Theatre at Washington, Va. It is rated PG.

A brave 14-year-old boy, Hakon Hakonsen, goes to sea to support his penniless Norwegian family. It's about pirates and sea storms, and good triumphing over evil. When a violent storm sinks his ship, Hakon finds himself on a desolate tropical island where he must outwit cutthroat pirates and a nasty British naval officer.

Shakespeare at Barboursville

The Four County Players and . Barboursville Vineyards present the second annual Shakespeare at the Ruins, a production of “The Taming of the Shrew." ; The performance will be held outdoors at the historic ruins of the Governor Barbour's mansion at the vineyards during the month : of August.

Performances will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 ; at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 4,11,18, at 5 p.m.
