To the Editor:
Lacking any evidence to win in court, Lynn Hopewell appears to be trying his case in the paper through your complicity. Your willing printing of the groundless slander and calumny in his affidavit and his current misrepresentations about the running of the school confirm recent conversations people have had with you that show your definite bias in this situation. After devoting all my adult life to the teaching and helping of children, first my own, then others to find their strengths and confidently pursue them, this public slandering is disheartening.
Watching the school Bill Lynn and I so carefully built up be destroyed by a board and a president who totally misunderstand it is painful, as is being accused of treachery after irrecoverably spending half a million of the family’s money on Wakefield and still having my name on nearly a million more in school debt.
Having Bill’s mother, Clydetta Lynn, made a villain when all she has ever done is give more and more money to the school, sponsor awards, hold all the school mortgages (the two thousand dollars monthly “rent” that the board doesn’t want to figure out why they pay her, and have perfidiously stopped paying her), as well as serve as the local “grandmother," letting children visit her for goodies on Halloween and Christmas, is reprehensible. For all this the board defames her and fires me through the paper so I would have trouble collecting unemployment compensation for my family should the need arise.
