Mr. Hickerson was bom Dec. 29, 1919, in Harmony Hollow, the son of the late Charles William and Lucy Sealock Hickerson. He was a retired steamfitter of U nion 602 in Washington, D.C. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Happy Creek United Methodist Church and the husband of Virginia H. Hickerson.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Janet Manuel of Selma, N.C., Wanda Colton and Debroah Cada, both of Front Royal and Carol Brunelle of Homestead, Fla.; four brothers, William Henry Hickerson of Franklin, N.C., Charles Douglas Hickerson of Flint Hill, Elmer Hickerson of Chester Gap and Rayburn Hickerson of Richmond; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Becky Carter
Mrs. Becky S. Carter died Thursday, July 11 at Prince William Hospital in Manassas.
She was bom Dec. 10, 1924 to Jacob and Ida Wheeler Schuster.
She was the wife of the late David K. Gourley and Carl E. Carter Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Randolph (Paula) Kinsey; her sons, George K. Gourley of Sperryville, Harvey J. Gourley, Carl E. Carter Jr. and Tom F. Carter, all of Manassas; and a step-son, David E. Gourley of Woodside, Del.
She is also survived by two sisters; three brothers, five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Also her many friends and neighbors.
Due to her illness she retired from Dulles International Airport where she was a manager of Ground Services. Prior to that she was a manager for Drug Fair Inc. in Cherrydale, Va. She was a member of Westover Baptist Church, Manassas Womens Club and Manassas Homemakers Club.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13 at Found’s Culpeper Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper with the Rev. C.J. Benner Jr. officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton.
Pallbearers were Gene Fleming, Richard Griffith, Wayne Johnson, Rev. William Pond, Joseph Talbert and William Terry.
