In other police activity this week:
• Jewell Carpenter, 22, of Sperryville, was charged with reckless driving after apparently falling asleep at the wheel of a 1988 Toyota on Route 605, twotenths of a mile south of Route 707, at 6:30 a.m. July 14, according to Sgt. Morris.
Carpenter ran off the left side of the road, hit a fence and then a tree, said Sgt. Morris.
TTie driver was injured in the accident. Trooper R.E. Keen charged Carpenter with reckless driving, said Sgt. Morris.
• Rappahannock Sheriff John Henry Woodward reported two incidents of mailbox vandalism in the county last week.
On July 12 three mailboxes on Route 621 were damaged when they were struck with an undetermined object, said Sheriff Woodward.
There was also an isolated mailbox vandalism on Route 640 that was reported on July 12, said Sheriff Woodward, but he did not think the two cases were related.
