Three people suffered minor injuries in a four-vehicle accident at 11 a.m. July 6 on U.S. 211, two-tenths of a mile east of U.S. 522, according to Sgt. G.A. Morris of the State Police.
A 1980 Dodge van, operated by 33-year-old Sharon Proper of Washington, Va., was stopped in the right westbound lane of U.S. 211 waiting for traffic, said Sgt. Morris. Behind the van was a 1976 BMW, operated by 46-yearold Ronnaug Webb, of Amissville.
Kenneth Shankle, 40, of Sperryville, failed to stop his 1988 GMC van in time to avoid rearending the Webb BMW, driving it in turn into Ms. Proper’s van, according to Sgt. Morris.
A fourth vehicle, a 1987 Volvo operated by Sheila Watson, 38, of Woodville, struck Mr. Shankle’s van from behind, said Sgt. Morris.
Injured were Mr. Shankle, Mary Shankle, and Sheila Watson.
The GMC van was destroyed, the Volvo sustained $2,000 in damages, the BMW sustained $2,000 in damages and the Dodge van $300.
