Two county
artists show
in D.C. area
Two Rappahannock artists, Rex Slack and Laurie Marshall, will be exhibiting in the D.C.-Maryland region this summer.
Mr. Slack will be at the opening of a two-person show at the Mahler Gallery, 406 7th St., N.W., in Washington, from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. July 20. The exhibit, entitled “Appalachia,” includes three-dimensional constructions by Mr. Slack inspired by his native state of West Virginia.
The other artist in the show is painter Sara Gilbert of New York, whose paintings were based on her experience in Hazard, Ky.
The show runs through Sept. 7.
Also on July 20, Ms. Marshall will be participating in a gallery talk at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, where her paintings are included in a new show called “The World Turned Upsidedown.” The gallery talk will go from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
The show is curated by David Tannous, a D.C. curator who has been supporting the work of Rappahannock artists .
