Tennis Clinic postponed
The tennis clinic sponsored by the Rappahannock Recreational Authority has been postponed. There will be no Saturday registration. New dates will be announced, watch this column for additional information.
Town celebration
The Fourth of July fireworks have been rescheduled for Sunday, July 28 at which time historic Washington will mark its two hundred forty-second birthday with an old-fashioned town celebration, capped with a spectacular fireworks display.
The birthday party starts at 5 p.m. with old-time games and relay races for children of all ages. The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be selling a variety of foods. The Soccer League will sell a “zillion” cupcakes that comprise the Town’s grand birthday cake. On the lawn about the pond at Avon Hall there will be live music and dancing. The grand finale of the party will be a dazzling show of fireworks, artfully set to music.
Parking is available at two dollars a car. Games, entertainment and fireworks are free to the public.

Benefit fun day
There will be a Christian fun day at Pullen's ball field in Sperryville beginning at noon on Saturday, July 20. Activities include softball, games, singing, etc. Refreshments will be sold. All are welcome. Proceeds will benefit Hopewell Baptist Church building fund.
Antique show and sale
The first annual Rappahannock County Antique Show and Sale will be held at Rappahannock Elementary Sept. 28 and 29. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and early bird is from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Regular admission will be $3.50 and early bird costs $15. There will be quality merchandise, moderate prices and no reproductions and will benefit the Child Care and Learning Center. Interested dealers should contact Charles A.
