Virginia Freeman, 33, of Washington, Va., was operating a 1982 Chevy northbound when her car was struck from the front by a southbound 1980 Pontiac, operated by Robert Jenkins, 18, also of Washington.
Mr. Jenkins apparently crossed the center of the road and struck the Chevy, said Sgt. Morris. He was charged by Trooper S.M. Knick with reckless driving.
Neither driver was injured.
• An Arizona man was arrested on a fugitive warrant after Trooper G.T. Settle checked his name into the national crime computer during the investigation of a traffic accident in Sperryville at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 7, according to Sgt. Morris.
George Corbin, 42, of Tuscon, was involved in an auto accident at the intersection of U.S. 211522 and Route 1001, said Sgt. Morris.
A computer check revealed he was wanted in Maryland for forgery, which Maryland officials confirmed, he said.
