Local winners will receive plaques, small awards and invitations to the Piedmont Regional Science Fair to be held in Charlottesville in March. Senior Division winners at Charlottesville continue on to the State Science Fair and possibly even to the International Science Fair.
Across the country, science fairs provide opportunities for students to actually do science themselves, and to show off their achievements.
Students begin by writing a background research paper. Then they plan and carry out an experiment, collect data, and interpret the results.
The fair is the culmination, as students explain their projects to the judges and the general public.
The 1991-92 Rappahannock Science Fair is jointly sponsored by the RCES ParentTeacher Organization, by the Gifted and Talented Program, and by the schools’ science departments. • * ? :
The public is encouraged to visit the Rappahannock Science Fair from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. on < Feb. 19 or from 10 a. m.-noon on Feb. 20. ,
