The eighth-grade-and-under basketball team, the Junior Panthers, opened their season against Page Jan. 3, losing in overtime, 42-40. Leading scorers included Jon Butler with 11, Jeff Atkins with 9, and Tim O’Meara with 6.
Eighth-graders making the Junior Panthers this year are co-captains Butler, Jason Brown and O’Meara; starters Mike Jenkins and Willie Shanks; and Mike Gilkey, Stephen Mills, Willie Eastham, Kirk Jenkins and Jason Carter.
Seventh-graders are: Atkins, Allen Groves, Adam Kerr, Eric Smith and Chris McLean.
