On Jan. 2, I attended a School Board meeting where plans were in-! troduced for a vocational prograrri here in the county. ;
1 am a 1981 graduate of Rappa* hannock High School and Piedmont Technical Education Center. Thi two years of training I received iij office services was exceptional, ij, enabled me to find work within the county. Office services is one of many courses being excluded front the proposed plans. j
In 1981 Piedmont offered 1£ courses. Twenty-three senior class members were enrolled in 12 6i these courses. Seventeen of thosfe graduates are living in the county tc|day. At least seven work here.
Piedmont is an excellent edufelitional opportunity and investment!. The 90-minute bus ride to and frorfi Culpeper was a topic of discussior}. Forty-five minutes of that time served as our lunch break. That bus ride is rewarded with great facilities, dedicated teachers and top-ofthe-line equipment. 1

It was stated this new prografr would save tax dollars. It doesn’t bfgin to offer the quality or variety of training I received. My tax dollars are well spent at Piedmont. I ask that vocational education remain there. ;
The figures presented don’t save much when you consider how many opportunities are being thrown away. |
