Dewitt Mafthews
Mr. Dewitt Kenneth Matthews of Boston, known to most as Dee Matthews, died Wednesday, Jan. 1. ,
He was bom Sept. 11, 1933, to Eva Turner Matthews and Leslie Lee Matthews in Orlando, Fla. Throughout his life Dee Matthews worked hard at whatever he did. He will be remembered for all his efforts and contributions for the betterment of the VSSDA and his community.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Matthews; a sister, Eva Karl; three daughters, Leslie Nalls, Kelly Matthews'and Catherine Matthews and two grandsons, William Nalls and Benjamin Nalls.
Funeral services were held at Clore Funeral Home Saturday, Jan. 4. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund or the American Cancer Society.
Mary Campbell
Mary Anna. Campbell, 80, of Front Royal, formerly of Strasburg, died Monday, Jan. 6 in the Warren County Memorial Hospital in Front Royal.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal by the Rev. Jerry Young. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell was born March 30, 1911, in Strasburg, the daughter of the late John William and Wilimina Richard Davidson. She was employed by Aileen Inc. in Flint Hill and was a member of the Rivermont Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late David Henry Campbell.
Surviving are a son, Richard H. Campbell of Front Royal; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Fisher and Betty Jane Lamb, both of Front Royal; a sister, Luella T. Davidson of Strasburg; three brothers, Charles C. Davidson, Lloydd PL Davidson and L. Richard Davidson, all of Strasburg; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bobby Campbell, Lenny Campbell, Tommy Campbell,- Bruce Sharder, Giles Darr and Johnny Davidson.
