'Ricochet' on the silver screen
The weekend RAAC movie at The Theatre at Washington, Va. for Jan. 12-13 is a Walter Day favorite, "Ricochet," starring Denzel Washington, John Lithgow, and Ice-T. ' Washington is a cop who becomes famous for fooling, then arresting hostagetaker Lithgow, and his career skyrockets as he becomes assistant district attorney in Los Angeles.
Lithgow escapes from prison and plots his revenge to destroy the family, career and sanity of Washington. With help from crack king Ice-T, Washington turns the tables in this scary, chilling and suspenseful film. *
Rated PG-13, shows start at 7:30 p.m. both days.
Other RAAC weekend movies in January: "101 Dalmatians," 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19; and "Paradise," 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 (no movie that Sunday because of the Super Bowl).
Quilting class announced
The Extension Homemakers Quilting Class will begin 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Jan. 14 and meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays pf each month.
On Jan. 14, they will begin an album quilt for their 1992 project.
All interested persons in Rappahannock County are welcome to attend, .

Red Cross holds training
The Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross, which serves Rappahannock and Fauquier counties, will be holding a free course, Introduction to Disaster Services, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, Va.
The course is the first step for those who wish to become actively involved in helping families who have lost their home due to fire or other emergencies. "" ~\
In recent weeks the Fauquier Chapter I has helped four families in Rappahannock and FauquieCspending about $2,000 of monies raised in the two counties.
"Each of us can help by becoming a Red Cross disaster service volunteer," said Ursula Baxley of the Fauquier Chapter. "It may only happen once in a while, but there will come a time when you'll need it."
