If current trends continue the school system will be spending $7,000 over its budget this year, Superintendent David Gangel told the School Board last week.
The situation could become more serious if anything else breaks down, he added.
The school system expects to have $70,000 in expenses that were not included in the budget. To partially offset that, Dr. Gangel estimates about $63,000 in unanticipated savings.
There is approximately $25,000 additional the school system can tap into with permission from the Board of Supervisors. Because average daily membership is expected to be close to 1,025, rather than 1,010, the figure used in preparing the budget, the school system should be eligible for approximately $15,000 more from the state than was included in the budget. To qualify for all of that additional state aid, the locality must add another $10,000.
The unbudgeted expenses have come from the unexpected kindergarten enroll-' ment, un&nticipatged expenses for special education, and unexpected breakdowns, Dr. Gangel said.
