ginia’s public school system into a more productive era, legislation was enacted last year by the General Assembly ^setting forth standards of quality. The new constitution of Virgina included provisions adopted by the State Board of Education which were revised and enacted into law by the legislature beginning last July. In Rappahannock County a Planning Council has been established and is composed of professional employees of the school division as well as members of the community. The council is broken down into task forces or smaller committees to work on various aspects of the program. The local council is headed by Robert Leonard, Director of Instruction of the Warren-Rappahannock School system.
A series of area fruit schools has been planned to discuss such subjects as weed control, pruning, growth regulators, pesticide regulations, new varieties and spray programs, said Fred Dreiling, Extension specialist in small fruits at Virginia Tech.
