Two Rappahannock County High School students, freshman Michael Wharton and junior Tucker Rogers, found themselves on the stage of the Kennedy Center with Bill Clinton taking part in the Innaugural celebration Tuesday afternoon as a result of kinship and the networks between music educators.

In early January George Sims, who lives in Jenkins Hollow and teaches instrumental music in Fauquier County, got a call from Bill Clemons, a former Marine Corps musician who teaches music at a magnet school in Norfolk.

Mr. Clemmons’s brother Clarence Clemons, who played with Bruce Springsteen’s E Stretf Band, was trying to get together a large, group of high school saxophone players to take part in the Celebration of Youth concert.
