Leech said people aren’t paying more taxes, it is simply a shift in the withholding tables.
“In 1992, a( smaller amount of taxes was deducted from each paycheck. And that’s why people may not get a refund - or may owe,” she said.
Leech said that although people are advised against paying more taxes throughout the year than they owe, many people purposely overpay because they like getting a tax refund in one lump sum.
