Warrenton’s Main Street Del. Wood said he had felt that his campaign was losing as he travelled among the polls Tuesday. “Obviously negative campaigning pays off,” he said of Katzen’s victory.
“I was lucky enough to get elected (in 1991), and as far as I’m concerned I’ve been successful,” he said. He accused the Katzen campaign of “distortion” and “inuendo.”
Katzen joined supporters at Napoleon’s in Warrenton. “The message of this victory is the only way to move ahead to resolve our problems is to work together,” he said. “I can say with pride that we have not engaged in a negative campaign... I’m proud to be a part of the Allen team.”
