Because the landowners in the lawsuit brought against the Board of Supervisors asked for monetary damages, the county’s defense has been turned over to the state’s Division of Risk Management.
That agency in turn appointed the lawfirm of Paxson, Smith, Gilliam and Scott to defend the supervisors in the suit. George Gilliam, a partner in the firm, has gotten an extension until Nov. 11 to file pleadings in the case.
