At a special meeting held by the newly elected Washington Town Council last Wednesday, the council voted to send a recommendation to i Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke to stop the investigation into possible illegal campaign tactics in the last election.
Council member Newbill Miller brought up the subject when he said that he had recently had a meeting with Major Ed Streapy, who is conducting the investigation. Mr. Miller said, “I had a meeting with Ed Streapy the other day. When he finished, he indicated he had talked With everyone and did not know the answers. He has felony cases he cannot get to because of the Town Council investigation. He said he could not stop the investigation until Peter Luke told him to do so.”
