Mr. Luke said entering into a . lease arrangement with Cellular One would require a public hearing any* way. He asked how long it would take Cellular One to get approval from the FAA and FCC.
Representatives from Cellular One said it would take 8 to 12 weeks to get FAA approval. Since Cellular One has a license to operate in the area, FCC approval could be had ii) 24 hours.
Mr. Massie moved to table consideration of the tower for 60 days “until we receive input from Town Council.”
Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham asked to reduce that to 30 days.
Mr. Luke said it would be necessary to get a statement from Town Council about what permits would be required.
Mr. Massie said it should not be the supervisors going to the Town Council but the sheriff and Cellular One.
Stonewall-Hawthom District representative Robert Anderson said, “I don’t see the problem with being an advocate of help to the sheriff and fire and rescue.
Mr. Massie’s motion to table the matter for 60 days did not rerave a second. “I represent the town. Before I vote I want to know what my people think,” he said.
Finally the board agreed to table the matter without any specific number of days to receive input from the town. They added they wanted to record that they thought the tower “may be in the best interests of the people of the county.”
