The voters of the Old Dominion are in for a rare parade of egos in the upcoming senatorial election.
A politician has to have a large and active ego in order to be successful, but this year we are in for it, as we even have one large ego who is not even a candidate in the race but wants to be a king-maker and enhance his high standing in Virginia.
Senator John Warner doesn’t like the way Ollie North parts his hair and has made statements about bolting the Republican Party and setting up his own lap dog as an “independent” candidate. To the threat of leaving the party and running himself as an independent I say “Godbye, John, don’t let the doorknob hit you in the backside as you go.” The Party has been good to him and now his ego is in the way. His farm has been up for sale for some time now. Maybe it’ll sell and he can take his suitcase full of money and move to, say, The Watergate, where he’d be quite at home. Or Berkeley, the one in California.
Chuckie Robb has won his nomi- ' nation handily over nobody, which is the way it should be. He has been a good senator, stayed out of sight, except for some publicized vacations in Virginia Beach, and voted the administration line, introduced nothing, and really has just filled a seat in the Senate.
