the girls who had shown the most enthusiasm and improvement. Ashleigh Burke, Meghan Fairbrother, Austin Bouffard, Courtney Mauro, Anna Metcalf, Kylene Wolfe, and Susan Jewell got the softballs.
Mrs. Leake asked the assembled campers who had learned at least one new thing during camp. They all raised their hands. They raised them again when she asked if they would want to come back if she had a similar camp next year.
Bonnie Jewell and Deitrich Beaver, players from the varsity team who graduated last month, helped as counsellors.
“I think it was a great success,” Mrs. Leake said. She seemed amazed that so many girls were willing to come play in the heat, but they appeared to be less effected by it than she was. She said she had seen improvement in all the players during the three-day period. Hitting improved particularly, she said.
