Mary Ann Biggs will be returning to the Rappahannock public school system to take over the position of assistant superintendent in mid February.
The position became vacant when Robert Chappell left at the end of November to become Superintendent of Schools in Essex County.
Mrs. Biggs left the school system in 1990 after two years as assistant principal at the elementary school to become principal of Johnson-Williams Middle School in Clarke County. Before becoming assistant principal she served from 1981 through 1988 as a guidance counsellor at the high school.
Actually Mrs. Biggs had been here before, from 1970-1972, as an English teacher. Before returning to Rappahannock as a guidance counsellor she taught at Handley High School in Winchester and earned a masters in counselling at James Madison University. She also received an administrative endorsement during her tenure as assistant principal.
