term. He has served for over 10 years, most of them as chairman. Grace Sims resigned effective December 31. Her current term would have ended in June 1995, but with the new by-laws members drew straws to set terms that end in December, and Mrs. Sims term would have extended to December 1996. She wrote that “unexpected family responsibilities make it impossible to complete my present term.”
Mrs. Sims served on the library board from April 1976 through April 1984 and from June 1987 through this month. In between she served two stints as the librarian.
Both Dr. Young and Mrs. Sims said they feel comfortable leaving the board at this time. They say they are confident the library is in good hands with new librarian Patricia Holmes and the reorganized board.
