The Clarke County School Board accepted Mrs. Biggs resignation effective Feb. 15 at a meeting Monday night. Between now and then she will be preparing to leave her middle school in good shape to get along without her. “I have confidence in my assistant and strong staff,” she said.
During the past week, Dr. Gangel also announced the School Board had agreed to hire Richard Smith as Director of Pupil Personnel with responsibility for Special Education when Margarita Piper retires at the end of June. Mr. Smith will also be responsible for transportation. „
Mr. Smith came to the school system in the 1980-81 school year as an elementary school teacher. He taught fifth, fourth and sixth grades until the 1993-94 school year when he became an administrative assistant.
