Bus driver Ruth Young said she would be opposed to having aides on the buses. She said usually problems can be worked out by talking with the parents. When that does not work, she said drivers should have more support when they report misbehavior to the office. “I agree we have a lot more things to use money for than $13,000 for aides on three buses,” she said.
Kindergarten teacher Geraldine Payne spoke in favor of raises for teachers. “I love kids,” she said. “If I won the lottery tomorrow, I’d still be here, but these teachers deserve every penny they get.”
