The board learned that after missing four days because of bad weather, only Friday April 14 remains of the spring vacation.
However, this situation may be relieved next year. The three other school systems with students participating in George Washington Carver/Piedmont Technical School, Culpeper, Madison and Orange, have qualified for waivers from the state that allow them to start school before Labor Day. Dr. Gangel said that because those other systems qualify for a waiver Rappahannock can also.
The board agreed to seek a waiver from the state to start school August 28 next year, the Monday before Labor Day.
The School Board heard a presentation by the seventh grade teachers on their programs.
