Her doctoral work has “given me another view of how the outside world impinges on the world ihside the school,” she said. “A teacher in a way is more removed from that. The influences are diluted and filter down to the classroom slowly. In the central office, you feel them right away, and you need to know how to adjust to them.” I
She said she is neither burned out nor bored with teaching and could return to it after a stint in administration, but the prospect of doing something different and being responsible for a wide variety of different aspects of the school system is “intriguing.”
She is also pleased that hers will not be a desk job. “It’s a very active job,” she said. “I’ll be in and out of the schools and classrooms... I’ll deal with more of the people in the school system and have a chance to work with adults.”
