Christmas Celebration

A Bicentennial Christmas Celebration will be held in the Town of Washington on Saturday, Dec. 14. There will be a colonial parade, followed by opening ceremonies in the Town Hall at 12:15 p.m. There will be live musical performances, visit from Santa, special appearance by George Washington, Christmas special at the shops and many, many other activities throughout the Town. All are invited to attend this free day of fun and excitement.

Adult Education Survey

The Rappahannock County Public School plan to offer adult education classes beginning in January, 1997. A survey is now being conducted to determine the types of classes to be offered. Anyone wishing to contribute their opinion or teach classes are encouraged to contact Jeanie Dwyer at 987-8773.

Rlay To Be Presented

Ki Theatre presents The Shepherds’ Play, a traditional 14th Centure nativity pageant, with acoustic music, acting and singing on Saturday, Dec. 14. Performance times are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Ki Theatre on Gay Street. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children, available in advance from Mountainside Market, Talk of the Town and New Leaf Book Store, or by writing The Shepherds' Play, P.O. Christmas Book Fair Set

Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly will hold its annual Christmas Book Fair on Thursday, Dec. 12 and Friday, Dec. 13. The fair is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and 12 noon through 8 p.m. on Friday.

Over 600 titles will be on sale including children’s, young adult, and adult fiction, pre-school favorites, bestsellers, biographies and selected nop-fiction. Special orders will be taken for Christmas delivery. All proceeds will benefit the WCDS library. The school is located on Route 522, two miles south of Flint Hill. Holiday Opening at Public House

The Flint Hill Public House is hosting it's second annual Holiday Open House. Proprietors John and Denise Pearson encourage everyone to come and join them and the staff at the Public House for some holiday good cheer. They will be serving refreshments while enjoying the music of Harpist Lorraine Duisit. The Open House begins at noon, Dec. 14 and will conclude at 3 p.m. The Public House will also serve lunch during there normal service hours which are 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call 675-1700.

Breakfast With Santa

The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a breakfast with Santa from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The breakfast includes sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes and orange juice. The cost is $5 pen person. There will also be a free photo with Santa for children 10 and under.
