Volunteers should have experience in doing their personal income taxes and/or an academic background in taxes. Training involves successful completion of the IRS training program lasting three to four days during January. All training materials are provided. The sites open in February and stay open through April 15. Volunteers are asked to spend about four hours a week assisting people prepare their income tax returns.
Applications to become a volunteer and any questions to be answered can be obtained from the local Extension Office or by calling Christine Kastan in the Orange County Extension Office at (540) 6721361 or the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.
The training is scheduled to be conducted at the Orange County Cooperative Extension Office in the early part of January 1997.
