Jackson District representative Ron Makela noted that the curriculum enrichment program had received a lot of financial support from the community. "I'm going to support what the community supports," he said. "The same type of thing is going to have to happen for football. It will have to show the same level of support."
School Superintendent David Gangel said that indications are the schools will be receiving between $150,000 and $160,000 less from the state next year. He received board support for sending a letter to Rappahannock's representatives in the General Assembly requesting additional help like the county received last year. Because of the decrease in state aid as a result of the county's increase in the Local Composite Index, the county got a special onetime appropriation for the current budget.
