Membership in the Fire and Rescue Company is not a requirement to work with the Explorers,'but an interest in helping them to prepare to be useful citizens of the community is. Your help is needed and appreciated.
Girl Scout cookies go on sale Jan. 17. Some local area troops may be selling cookies for $3 while others may sell for $2.50. You are not being ripped off. Several councils voted to go with another baker rather than raise the price of their cookies while retaining the same delicious taste.
Each troop depends on the portion of money they receive to buy materials, plan trips or activities for the girls. These activities may be as simple as a bowling or skating outing or as indepth as an overnight trip to the Richmond Science Museum.
I suppose I spoke a little too soon about the lack of snow! I hope everyone was able to get around safely although we did have a few accidents in the area. The school systems are to be commended on their decisions to close schools considering the amount of ice still on the back roads. Safety of our children must be a priority even though it may inconvenience us parents.
