However, Virginia Governor Allen took a large step in the right direction when he announced, on Dec. 16 a proposed financial package that includes $8 million for wastewater treatment upgrades and $ 11 million for a Nutrient Reduction Strategy for the Shenandoah and Potomac Tributaries to the Chesapeake Bay.
The Chesapeake Bay has come a long way. We must protect the gains we have made, and seize remaining opportunities. In answer to the question, "Who is polluting the Bay?", remember that we are all contributing our share, and we must all take, responsible action. A cleaner and healthier Bay and Potomac River can, be achieved and preserved for our children. It is a commitment we must, not ignore.
