Proposal To Fix Lag Pay
Gov. George Allen is proposing an $18 million plan to Fix lag pay approved by the 1997 General Assembly.
Gov. Allen's plan would switch paydays from the current semimonthly policy to every other Friday, and employees would receive a transitional payment equal to three calendar days' earnings to minimize any financial problems occurring during the change.
Survey Conducted
The Joint Rules Committee has conducted a survey of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates to address their concerns in the legislative process.
Although results of the study have not been released. Sen. Bill Bolling, R-Hanover, said major concerns focused on reducing the amount of legislation introduced each year, reforming the standing committee process and reorganizing the interim study commissions that continue after the assembly session closes.
