The Virginia Department of Transportation held a public hearing at Rappahannock County High School last Thursday evening to receive citizen comments concerning a proposed road renovation project near Sperryville.
Several dozen local residents, including Rappahannock County Stonewall-Hawthome District Supervisor Bob Anderson, participated in the two-hour session. Virginia State Delegate Jay Katzen (R-31st) also attended.
Each person received a handout detailing the public comment process and the proposed project. VDOT engineers discussed the project, explained maps and drawings, and answered all questions. Unusual, however, was VDOTs request that comments be submitted in writing to the district administrator in Culpeper.
