a reminder of what is to come. This is a great time to have, your chimney cleaned and inspected by a professional chimney sweep. A thorough cleaning should be performed every year to prevent chimney fires.
Plan ahead and buy replacement batteries for your smoke alarms. When you set your clocks back before you go to bed on Oct. 25, change the battery in each of your smoke alarms. It is now advisable to put a smoke detector in each room of your home and to make sure your family has an escape plan rehearsed.
If you didn’t get to the State Fair in Richmond, try to go next year. We had a funfilled day on Saturday taking in the sights and sounds as we scooted from one exhibit to the next. My hat goes off to everyone who coordinated the event and to all who entered the competitions. Congratulations are extended to the group of volunteers who formulated the Culpeper tourism exhibit which won first place!
