Ivan Ussach, of Woodville, asked several questions concerning environmental impact, particularly increased noise pollution from tractor-trailers. He is worried “that this project may be opening the floodgates” to more development or increased traffic. “We have to view this (project) in terms of its larger perspective.”
No environmental impact statements are needed because the project does not involve water or require any special permits.
Haught stated that, in his opinion, “it won’t increase traffic. (The project is intended to) keep traffic flowing. There is nothing in the Six Year Plan that will increase volume,” and there are no plans to modify the bridge on Route 231 or change U.S. 522 in any way that would increase traffic.
