It was standing room only for the public hearing on the county’s Six Year Road Secondary Road Plan Monday night.
There was a good deal of criticism aimed at the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors and the Virginia Department of Transportation for failure to adequately inform county residents as to what the county’s plans for its secondary roads are.
The supervisors pointed out that the plans for the secondary road system have been around since 1982 and until this year any controversy involving changes to roads had been minor.
Bob Moore, resident engineer for VDOT, said that the projects VDOT is currently working are: setting up an informational meeting date for Route 610 concerning site distance problems on that road; taking bids for a contract for Route 620; taking bids for contracts for routes 616 and 617; paving a section of Route 616 off Route 626; working to complete widening and paving on Route 621; and they will hold a public hearing on Route 729 on Nov. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Amissville fire hall.
The board took complaints and compliments by districts.
