The town’s water system has other complications besides limited water storage. Electrical failures have plagued the well pumps, resulting in the town being entirely without water while repairs were made.
Council members Steve Critzer, Charles Tompkins, and others have been working with Cronin to develop solutions to the problems. Cronin’s evaluation of several proposals will be discussed at the November town council meeting.
The town is also affected by the larger county and national issue of a shortage of active fire fighting volunteers. Company 1 has approximately 20 members.
State law requires that companies operate under a “2+2 rule” when fighting a fire. Two firefighters enter a building as a team, working under the buddy system, and two others remain outside as backup for an emergency rescue, should one become necessary.
