Libertarian candidate Robert Buchanan, in his first run for public office, established a modest base of support, winning six percent of the total district vote.
“For a novice running for state delegate, I think I did a pretty good job,” Buchanan said. Buchanan acknowledged that his ultra-liberal social proposals, like the legalization of drugs and prostitution, may have been tough for voters to swallow. Still he makes no apologies for his beliefs. “I’m a freedom lover and a freedom fighter,” he said.
