Even if you didn’t live in the county at the time, why did you not ask questions before you moved into your house? My husband and I are looking at a piece of property that was slated to have a road go through two years ago. We went to the meeting last night to look and see if that road was still in the plans before going ahead with our plan to purchase. Foresight I believe it’s called.
I have to give a hand to the farmers that have lived here for 40 plus years who showed up to thank the Virginia Department of Transportation and the board for paving the other end of Route 621. They, of all people, know how dangerous a one lane dirt road is with their farm machinery. Before you hastily say they don’t travel the roads enough or aren’t important enough to have their opinions count, let me remind you that they are the ones who made the county the rural, beautiful land that it is. It could have been a whole different story.
Last but not least, for the citizens of Rappahannock who think that paving a road instantly makes it an ugly, disgusting monster might I remind you that the only official scenic byways in the county are paved. If you believe that people onlv go on gravel roads to enjoy tne sdenery you haven’t driven these roads. Those who travel them, like me, are too busy craning their necks looking at
