• The board also heard the application from Wakefield Country Day School to divide the property for non-residential use so that the school will be separated from the remaining acreage of the Lynn Estate. The school lot would be 6.1225 acres, leaving a balance of five and a half with the estate. The board approved the application.

• A report by Bob Dennis, chair of the Board of Assessors on the current reassessment which he said is almost complete and should be complete by Thanksgiving. He reported that the current assessment is only up slightly from the last, and the higher • percentage of increase is in the village areas. He also said this assessment has provoked relatively little controversy or complaints although there have been some.

• Beverly Atkins, Commissioner of Revenue also addressed the supervisors concerning land use values. Class two through Class eight soils are adjusted. The supervisors recommended to Atkins that classes five, six, seven and eight (which is usually forest

with them. They are attracting good buyers, which is what I need.”

Attracting good buyers is extremely important to all three co-owners. Matthews devotes much of his business effort to marketing at the farm level, getting the right buyers together with sellers who have what' they are looking for. He makes a practice of knowing what cattle are going to be coining to market and assessing buyers needs.

Some buyers regularly rely on Matthews’ professional expertise to purchase cattle for them from ringside, sight unseen. “There has been an unbelievable-'* turn around (locally). We have a great deal of appreciation to the buyers and consignors who have given us their trust to prove ourselves,” Matthews said.

All the partners agree that, financially, things have been going well, too. “Our numbers are running right along with the rest of the industry,” confirmed Matthews. “Sale numbers have been consistent.
