Dr. David uangei, superintendent of schools, said the school board is looking at the problem of the leaky roof oyer the Rappahannock High School shop. They are also continuing to deal with the contractors about the leaking roof over the auditorium at the Rappahannock Elementary School (which has been leaking since it was put on.)
• In executive session the board discussed then came out and adopted a resolution to move ahead with thd purchase of the Armentrout property. The closing will take place this week. The board has not yet stated a purpose for the property which is adjacent to the school property owned by the county. The purchase price was $4,000 per acre for 25 acres and with closing cost the purchase will total about $106,000.

During September, the last month for which figures were available, the company auctioned over 4,000 head of cattle.
Thompson said that sales “have progressed better than we ever imagined.” Spring sales figures held steady all through the summer and into the fall. A special graded sale earlier in the week saw more than 900 head auctioned in a single day.
Using a telephone-auction hookup affiliated with the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association, Vance described the cattle to 32 buyers at one time. Some of the cattle were bought and . shipped ps far away as Oklahoma. » A graduate of the Kansas City, Mo., Auctioneers’ School, Vance has been a professional livestock auctioneer for most of his life. He and Thompson just returned from a government-sponsored feeder cattle sale in Canada.
