Eastwood was raised in Pasadena, Calif, and went to the Brooks Institute of Photography • in Santa Barbara. The visual eye he developed in photography led him to appreciate the beauty of these delicate trees and he thrives on the outdoor work, but said he gladly gave up his photography business to devote himself to his new business, Eastwoods’ Nurseries.
Japanese Maples
“At certain times of the year each tree expresses its unique properties, otherwise a few trees can be confused with each other,” said Eastwood. The humidity and the cold affect the color dramatically, he added, and he revels in the unique beauty of each variety.
Eastwood’s Japanese maples are well suited to Rappahannock growing conditions since all of his trees originally came from Japan or the Korean peninsula which are on the same latitude and have comparable climate.
