Eighth grade math teacher John Schneider has earned bachelors and masters degrees from the State University of New York, and has seven years of experience teaching gifted and talented children. His interests include building garden mazes, biking, and skiing, and his favorite book (of last week) was Arctic Dreams.
Rappahannock native Jackie Settle will start her teaching career in high school physical education. Her education was in physical education at Radford University, and her favorite activities include exercising and traveling.
RCHS Athletic Director, Jon Smythe, joins us after twenty-five years of service as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. He earned a B.S. in Agriculture and an M.A. in Strategic Studies, and his outside interests include sports, shooting rifles, fishing, and backpacking.
Smythe's favorite movie is "Braveheart," and his favorite quote, from Teddy Roosevelt, is "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena . . .". His teaching philosophy: "Tell them what to do, show them how to do it— let them do it."
Also joining the teaching staff at RCES is Theresa Caporuscio and at RCHS Marylou Taylor and Cary Renick.
Returning after a one year absence are Kelly Estes (RCES) and Elizabeth Blubaugh (RCHS).
