Many restaurants, businesses, individuals and civic clubs once again made donations to ensure that our "Rappahannock Night” at Camp Fantastic was successful. These included: Bleu Rock Inn, fried chicken; The Public House, Pizza Hut, Melting Pot, Mountainside Market, pizza; Muskrat Haven, corn; The Country Cafe and Ben Venue Market, fruit; Settle's Grocery, butter, salt and pepper, corn boats, and bottled water; Ester Settle and Arland Welch, macaroni and cheese; The Inn and Rae's Place, quiche; Rappahannock Lions' Club, tacos; Vivian Yancey, Janet Eastham and the Rappahannock Homemakers, desserts; Frank Huff and the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Sandra Jenkins and Maybelle Gilkey, drinks; Hillsdale Grocery, ice and Charlotte Tummeyer, paints.
Monetary donations were secured to cover all the miscellaneous expenses involved in carrying out this Rappahannock tradition: The Rappahannock National Bank, F & M National Bank at Flint Hill, American Cancer Society, Ron and Jan Makela, E.G. and Dorothy Hackley, Frances Foster and Willie Cloud.
In addition Donna Brune, owner of Persimmon Springs Florist in Huntly, made and donated beautiful "soda fountain" floral arrangements and a centerpiece for the tables. Kathy Gangel and Bruce Jones circulated throughout the evening with the camera, capturing the event for the newspaper and our scrapbook.
We sincerely appreciate all the donations that made this annual event possible. We feel very fortunate to be able to participate in Camp Fantastic each year, even in a small way, and we are already making plans for next year. Thanks to all of you!
